Browser-Based Quizzes and Feedback — No App Required
Overview
The Kai student app gives students the richest experience — but sometimes you need a faster path. Web questionnaire access lets students respond to quizzes, feedback requests, and homework assignments directly in a browser, using a link or QR code you share with them. No installation, no login setup, no friction.
This is especially useful during the first few weeks of a term when students are still getting set up, or whenever you want a quick in-class response without depending on everyone having the app installed.
How It Works
The process takes about thirty seconds from your side:
- Create your quiz or feedback request in the Kai instructor app, just as you normally would.
- A shareable link and QR code are generated automatically — no extra steps required.
- Share with your students — project the QR code on the classroom screen, email the link, paste it into your LMS, or send it however works best for you.
- Students open the link in any browser — on their phone, tablet, or laptop. No app download, no account required.
- Students respond directly in the browser — the experience is clean and mobile-friendly.
- Responses flow back to your instructor app — exactly the same as responses collected through the student app.
The most common use is projecting a QR code at the start or end of class. Students scan it with their phone camera and are taken immediately to the questionnaire. Responses arrive in your app in real time, so you can review results while the class is still in session.
When to Use It
Quick In-Class Polls and Quizzes
Project the QR code on the board or screen. Students scan and respond immediately — no app required. This works well for exit tickets, attendance-linked questions, or mid-lecture comprehension checks.
Early in the Term
During the first few sessions, not all students will have installed the app yet. Web questionnaire access means you can start collecting feedback and running quizzes right away, while students get set up at their own pace.
One-Time or Guest Participants
If you have guest attendees or are running a session with students who aren’t enrolled in your course, web access lets them participate without any account setup.
Students Experiencing App Issues
When a student can’t access the app — low storage, a device issue, or a platform they don’t use — the web link is a reliable fallback.
Accessing the Link and QR Code
After creating a quiz or feedback request in the instructor app, you’ll find the shareable link and QR code in the session details. You can:
- Copy the link to paste into an email, LMS announcement, or chat
- Download or display the QR code for in-class projection
- Share directly from the app using your device’s share sheet
Questionnaire links are temporary. They expire after a configured period (typically the duration of the assignment window). Expired links show a clear message to students rather than a broken page.
The Student Experience
When a student opens the link, they see a clean, mobile-optimized form. The interface is designed for fast completion on a phone screen — large tap targets, minimal scrolling, and clear progress indicators.
After submitting, students see a confirmation message. Their response is recorded immediately and appears in your instructor app alongside responses from students who used the native app.

The student app provides the complete Kai experience: AI tutoring, course materials, activity history, and push notifications for new assignments. Web questionnaire access is the lightweight path for moments when the full app isn’t available or practical.
If students regularly use web access, it’s worth reminding them that the student app unlocks a lot more — especially the AI chat assistant. Web access is a great entry point, but the app is where the full value of Kai becomes clear.
